Inter-American Relations

Transformations in the Americas, north and south, have created synergies and mutual opportunities on issues ranging from trade to energy, climate change to public health, and higher education to infrastructure development. Equitable prosperity requires extensive cooperation among the countries of the Hemisphere to address shared challenges. The Inter-American Dialogue’s activities are directed towards furthering debate on contentious issues in the inter-American agenda and finding consensus among the countries of the region.

Brazil: Public (In)Security Experiences in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

On November 18, 2024, the Dialogue’s Rule of Law Program, the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation, and the School of Multidimensional Security of the Institute of International Relations at the University of São Paulo, released a joint policy brief analyzing public policies to address insecurity in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. This is the fourth policy brief in a series on security policies and the rule of law in the region, launched by the Dialogue’s Rule of Law Program.
