Cecilia De La Macorra serves as senior director for the Americas for international government relations at Exxon Mobil Corporation, in Washington, DC. In this role she is responsible for developing political analysis and executing policy and advocacy strategies for the region and coordinating outreach across markets. In 2022, she took an additional role for a new stakeholder engagement function, where she engages with global civil society on issues related to the energy transition.
Before joining the corporation’s government relations center of expertise in early 2012, De La Macorra was ExxonMobil’s director for public and government affairs for Mexico. In this capacity, she had responsibility for all government relations functions and helped created new business opportunities for ExxonMobil. She also served as the official spokesperson for the company in Mexico and led the team responsible for media relations, communications, and corporate citizenship programs.
De La Macorra holds a master’s degree in international relations from Columbia University, with a focus on Latin American studies and international media and communications. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in international relations with a minor in international economics from Universidad Iberoamericana (with courses at Georgetown University).
De La Macorra currently serves as a member of the US section for the US-Mexico Energy Business Council, as a board member of the Woodrow Wilson Center Mexico Institute, and the Institute of the Americas Energy, and Climate Steering Committee. She is a founding member of “Voz Experta,” a women in energy organization in Mexico, and a member of the International Women’s Forum. In addition, De La Macorra is a member of the Inter-American Dialogue’s Energy & Resources Committee with the Energy Transition & Climate Program.
