José María Dagnino Pastore

José María Dagnino Pastore is an Argentine economist and a former minister of economy and labor. He received a Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), an MA in Economics from the University of California Los Angeles, and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University. He has been a teacher, professor, researcher, and advisor at various universities, including UNLP, the University of Buenos Aires, Harvard, and the Catholic University of Argentina. He has also served as the director of research institutes at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (ITDT) and the Latin American Economic Research Foundation (FIEL).
In public life, he served twice as the minister of economy and labor of Argentina and as the minister of economy for the province of Buenos Aires, the secretary of the National Development Council (CONDAE), the Argentine financial ambassador to Europe, and vice president of the National Fund for the Arts (FNA). Dagnino Pastore also served as a governor for the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund — over whose 25th assembly he presided.
Dagnino joined the Dialogue as a Member in 1984.
